Gore’s high school softball team hosts Webbers Falls on Thursday and the Lady Pirates travel to Keys on Monday.
Both games are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association released the Class A District assignments last week and Gore was assigned to the District 19 Tournament in Keota. Porum will also compete in the double-elimination tournament, which begins next week.
The Lady Pirates went 1-2 in the Riverside Athletic Conference Tournament at the Pam Shoemake Activity Complex in Porum on Thursday.
Gore 13, Arkoma 1
The Lady Pirates started tournament play with a convincing victory over the Lady Mustangs.
Gore totaled six runs in the top of the first inning. Aubrey Akin started the game with a single, and after stealing second went to third on LeeAnna Barnes’ base hit. An error allowed Gore to take a 1-0 lead and five more runs followed thanks to Cristin London’s RBI bunt single and stolen base, Layne Mannon’s base hit to right field, a passed ball, Karli Springer’s bunt single, Harley Welch’s sacrifice fly to center field and Kara Brimm’s inside-the-park home run, which scored the final two runs of the at-bat.
Arkoma scored its run in the bottom of the first on Jaydynn Walden’s RBI single.
With one out in the Gore second, Barnes walked before an error, two hit batters (London and Springer) and a walk (Mannon) made the score 8-1. Welch’s base hit to right field drove in two runs, Brimm singled to center field for an RBI and stole second, Sabra Palmer’s groundout brought in another run and an error scored Gore’s seventh run of the inning.
Arkoma’s Rion Beck singled to center field in the bottom of the second.
London doubled to left field with one out in the Gore third and Mannon followed with an infield single to put runners on first and third but two strikeouts ended the scoring threat.
Barnes was the winning pitcher in the contest.
McCurtain 9, Gore 1
The Lady Pirates fell to the Lady Bulldogs in Gore’s second tournament game of the day on Thursday but no game details were available.
Porum 7, Gore 3
Gore’s Cristin London and Caley Call recorded two hits apiece but Po-rum broke open a tight game by scoring five runs in the top of the third inning to eliminate the Lady Pirates in the tournament on Thursday.
Layne Mannon, Kara Brimm and Sabra Palmer had one hit apiece in the contest for Gore and Mannon, Karli Springer and Harley Welch drove in a run apiece for the Lady Pirates.
Call scored two of Gore’s runs and Lee-Anna Barnes scored the other one.
Mallory Barrett, Savannah Macom and Christol Brown each had multiple hits in the game for the Lady Panthers.
Barnes (5.0 innings) gave up 12 hits and seven earned runs while striking out three and walking one and Porum’s Destinie West (5.0) allowed seven hits and three earned runs while striking out one and walking five.
Gore committed one error in the contest and Porum had none.
The Lady Pirates won their two games at Gans last Tuesday, beating the Lady Grizzlies and Keota.
Gore 11, Gans 9
The third time was the charm for the Lady Pirates as they defeated the Lady Grizzlies for the first time this season following two narrow losses.
Harley Welch, Cristin London, Caley Call and Aubrey Akin led the way offensively for the Lady Pirates.
Welch (3 for 3) drove in three runs, London also had three hits, Call doubled and hit her second home run of the season and Akin was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
LeeAnna Barnes (8-5) picked up the win in the circle.
Gore 8, Keota 2
Caley Call hit two triples and drove in five runs in the Lady Pirates’ victory over the Lady Lions last Tuesday in Gans.
Gore jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning before adding four runs in the fourth in the five-inning contest.
Call’s triple in the first produced two RBIs and Gore scored another run on a passed ball.
Call and Layne Man-non drove in runs in the fourth.
Call (3 for 3) and Aubrey Akin (2 for 4 with a double) had multiple hits for the Lady Pirates and LeeAnna Barnes, Man-non and Harley Welch had one hit apiece.
Mannon had two RBIs and scoring for Gore were Akin (3 runs), Call
(2) and Cristin London, Barnes and Sabra Palmer (1 each).
Byrd (2 for 3), who hit a home run, was Keota’s leading hitter.
Barnes (5.0 innings) allowed six hits and one earned run while striking out two and Keota’s Allie Carry (5.0) gave up eight hits and two earned runs while striking out two and walking two.
Gore committed one error in the game and Keota had four.
