Gore’s high school softball team begins play in the District A-19 Tournament in Keota on Thursday.
Keota and Porum meet at 10 a.m. and the Lady Pirates play the loser of that game at noon before taking on the winner at 2 p.m.
The fourth game of the double-elimination tournament is scheduled for 4 p.m., and depending on the outcome of the first three games the winner of that game could claim the district title or force a 6 p.m. game or a Friday contest.
Before this week’s games the Lady Pirates were 10-8 with an 11-9 win at 6-16 Porum, a 7-3 loss at Porum in the conference tournament and a 7-2 win over 7-11 Keota.
Last week Gore lost 13-2 to Webbers Falls at home after defeating Braggs 18-4 at Lady Pirate Field.

The Lady Pirates scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning but the Lady Warriors scored at least two runs in every inning and came away with the win on Thursday in Gore.
Gore’s Sabra Palmer and Kara Brimm reached on errors in the bottom of the third inning and eventually scored the Lady Pirates’ runs on singles by Aubrey Akin and LeeAnna Barnes.
Caley Call recorded a base hit for the Lady Pirates in the bottom of the first inning.
Gore 18, Braggs 4
Layne Mannon went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs and five other Gore batters recorded two hits last Monday as the Lady Pirates improved to 10-7 with the win over Braggs (4-12) in Gore.
Gore scored 13 runs in the first inning, three in the second and two in the third in the three-inning, run-rule game.
Aubrey Akin, Caley Call, Cristin London, Harley Welch and Lee-Anna Barnes each had two hits in the game and Sabra Palmer and Kara Brimm had one apiece. London drove in three runs.
Scoring for the Lady Pirates were Call, London and Mannon (3 each), Akin, Welch, Karli Springer and Barnes (2 each) and Palmer (1).
Akin was the winning pitcher for the Lady Pirates.
