Vian tuned up for the start of Class 3A Regional 8 softball tournament play last week with a pair of high school games at Lady Wolverine Field.
Vian lost to Henryetta 5-4 last Tuesday after defeating Haskell 10-5 last Monday.

Magen Eckhardt, Jordan Troutman and Green-lee Wells recorded two hits apiece and Wells drove in two runs for the Lady Wolverines last Tuesday but Henryetta held off a late Vian rally to claim the victory.
Wells drove in a run in the bottom of the second inning to put Vian on top but the Lady Knights took a 4-1 advantage in the top of the third. The Lady Wolverines made it 4-3 with a run apiece in the fourth and fifth frames before Henryetta registered its final run in the sixth. Vian sliced a run off the deficit in its final at-bat in the seventh.
Kaycee Haning, Mylie Hughes, Kacie Gibbins, Hannah Ellis and Caelie Ellis each had a hit for Vian and Hughes and Gib-bins had one RBI apiece in the game.
Hughes, Eckhardt and Troutman each hit a double and scoring for Vian were Eckhardt (2) and Haning and Caelie Ellis (1 each).
Wells (7.0 innings) struck out one and walked three while giving up 12 hits and three earned runs.
Vian committed one error in the contest and Henryetta had none.
Both teams entered Class 3A regional play with 24-8 records and each squad finished second in their respective districts.
Vian 10, Haskell 5
The Lady Wolverines overcame a 4-2 deficit by scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as Vian downed the Lady Haymakers last Monday at Lady Wolverine Field.
Haskell took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Vian claimed the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. Jordan Troutman’s single drove in one of the Vian runs.
The Lady Haymakers tied the score with a run in the third before grabbing the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth Caelie Ellis’ fielder’s choice drove in a run, a triple by Kaycee Haning’s scored three runs, Kacie Gibbins’ groundout produced a run, Troutman’s base hit drove in a run and Hannah Ellis’ single scored two runs for Vian to make the score 10-4.
Haskell scored the final run of the game in the sixth inning.
Haning, Mylie Hughes and Troutman had two hits apiece in the game and Gibbins (double), Ma-gen Eckhardt and Hannah and Caelie Ellis each registered a hit.
Haning drove in three runs, Troutman and Hannah Ellis each had two RBIs and Gibbins, Eckhardt and Caelie Ellis drove in a run apiece.
Scoring for Vian were Hughes and Troutman (2 each) and Haning, Gib-bins, Greenlee Wells, Hannah and Caelie Ellis and Harlee Carlton (1 each).
Kadence Cochran (7.0 innings) was the winning pitcher after striking out four and walking seven while giving up four hits and two earned runs.
Vian committed three errors in the game and Haskell had none.
