One way to bring a book to life is through pictures, another way is through theater. Recently, students at Gore Elementary School participated in a contest where the winners of the illustration contest for “Miss Nelson Has a Field Day” were taken to Tulsa Performing Arts Center to see the play, “Miss Nelson Has a Field Day” performed at the children’s theater. The students spent a Saturday morning with teachers Jeanie Spears, Catie Russell, Mitzi Ridinger, and Principal Tonya Pugh. Students got to see the book come to life and even were able to point out parts that were left out from the book. Afterwards, students were treated to a meal and were able to visit the Center of the Universe in Tulsa. This is a unique place where a person stands in the open air and their voice sounds like an echo. The day was a wonderful afternoon made possible by a generous donor. Students and staff look forward to the next performing arts event.
