Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin, accompanied by Tina Glory Jordan, Cherokee Nation Secretary of State, left, presented a check in the amount of $57,280 to the town of Marble City on Sept. 14, which will be used to refurbish a couple of buildings on Main Street and establish a Farmer’s Market. Marble City Mayor Tamara Hibbard, accepting the check on behalf of the Marble City Community, said the money will help complete an ongoing project to replace a roof on the old hardware store and refurbish the former Jack Drain’s Store. “We’re just excited to receive the money and what it will mean for the Marble City Community and we’re very thankful to Chief Hoskin and the Cherokee Nation for their help,” Hibbard said. Hoskin said he appreciates the opportunity to assist towns “especially small towns and communities” such as Marble City and looks forward to helping the community with other projects.
