Voted in by the FCCLA Alumni Association, her project won third place, earning her a cash award, and is the first ‘Spotlight on Projects’ winner for Vian.
Also in March, Vian FCCLA competed at the State STAR Event competition in Stillwater, in hopes of placing in the top three of their categories. Freshmen Natalie Guthrie and Chassity Blackbird are the Vian Chapter’s first State STAR Event winners, placing second place and national qualifiers with their ‘Repurpose & Redesign’ project. National STAR Events will take place in San Diego, Calif., this summer.
This is Guthrie and Blackbird’s first year as FCCLA members and competitors, and their win is quite an accomplishment. Benefit plans for Guthrie and Blackbird to compete at nationals are in the works.
Community support and donations will be greatly appreciated to help with travel costs.
