Staff of Vian Public Schools honored out-going superintendent Victor Salcedo and longtime treasurer Ed Brockman on Friday with an appreciation event to thank them for their tireless efforts to the Vian School District.
The event was well-attended by not only school staff but members of the community as well, who expressed their thanks to the two men for their remarkable dedication, commitment and outstanding service.
Several stories and memories were shared by those in attendance, who stated Salcedo and Brockman had made positive impacts on the school and their lives, and the lives of their children and grandchildren, through laughter and tears.
Salcedo has served as school superintendent since 2013. During that time, he oversaw significant changes and improvements to the facilities and infrastructure of the school. In 2018, he was named state Superintendent of the Year for District 11. According to a press release, out of 584 school districts, only 20 are given this honor.
Brockman has served as treasurer of the school for the past 50 years. He’s been responsible for the financial management of the school, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and effectively to support the academic mission of the district. Over the years, he’s developed a reputation for being an outstanding administrator with a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of the financial challenges facing schools today.
The school said the event was a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing and celebrating the hard work and dedication of educators and administrators.
“Both Victor Salcedo and Ed Brockman have been instrumental in creating an environment of excellence at Vian School. Their contributions have had a profound impact on the lives of countless students and families in the Vian community,” the school said in a released statement. “They will be remembered for years to come.”
