Gans – Funeral services for Artie Mae Pruitt, 78, of Gans, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church in Muldrow, Burial will follow at Box Cemetery north of Vian, under the direction of Agent & Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
Mrs. Pruitt was born on June 8, 1944, in Dripping Springs, Ark. to Ruben Artist Owens and Ila Mae (Cooksey) Owens. She died on June 2, 2023, in Sallisaw.
She was married to Jerry Pruitt on Nov. 26, 1964, in Sallisaw. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2001.
She worked at Gans Public Schools for 45 years as a paraprofessional, teachers aid and cook. She loved to shop, read and vacation, and loved her job and family. She loved the Lord and her pastor, Rev. Anthony Williams.
Survivors are two daughters, Deborah Hays of Muldrow and Rhonda Taylor of Sallisaw; one son, Jerry Wesley Pruitt Jr. of Gans; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Stanford of Alma, Ark. and Karen Coyner of Texas; three brothers, Jackie Owens of Gans, and Ronnie Owens and Bobbie Owens, both of Muldrow; and other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jimmie Owens and George Owens. Pallbearers will be Mike Taylor, Ronnie Owens, Bobbie Owens, Shea Taylor, Jackie Owens and Taylor Coyner.
