Stroud – Graveside service for Helen Gelene “Jean” Lynam, 70, of Stroud, were at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Dwight Mission Cemetery, with Pastor James Bond officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services of Sallisaw. Mrs. Lyman was born on Nov. 17, 1952, in Sallisaw to George Morton and Mattie Elizabeth Morton (Fields). She died on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Stroud.
She graduated from Vian High School in 1971 and received her bachelor’s degree in education at Northeastern State University. Teaching was her passion for over 28 years. After retiring for a few years, she returned to help elders and students of the Sac and Fox Nation, where she would retire once again.
She married Danniel Ray Lynam on May 22, 1978.
Survivors are her spouse; children, Angela and Jason Williams of Depew, Brandon and Treasure Lynam of Stroud, and Jenni and Jonathan Cannon of Williamsburg, Va.; siblings, George Morton of Marble City, Kathy and Burrell Matlock of Roland, and Joe and Sibyl Morton of Muldrow; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Morton; and granddaughters, Ashton Williams and Lottie Lynam.
