Mr. McCoy was born on Feb. 20, 1940, to Clarence Howard Mc-Coy and Mildred Wilder in Longvale, Calif. He died on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in Sallisaw.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, served in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He worked as a cross-country truck driver, was an author of the tribal constitution of the Sherwood Valley Band of Pomo Indians of California, and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Rose (Burton) McCoy; children, Ruthie McCoy, Cheryl John, Regina McCoy and Rachael McCoy; and sister-in-law, Pat Todd Catchpole.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Luella and Leola; one brother, Raymond Sheppard; and four daughters, Sofia McCoy, Rogina Valentine, Lisa Fred and Phyllis Razo.
Sallisaw – A Celebration of Life service with full military honors for Howard Clarence Mc-Coy, 83, of Sallisaw, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at Forever Memories Funeral Services.
Arrangements were under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services.
