DALLAS — Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles baseball team closer Cade Denton has been named one of 10 finalists for the 18th annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball.
The Summit League Pitcher of the Year has made a team-best 31 appearances and holds a 1.65 earnedrun average to go along with 15 saves, which is tied for the national lead. The 15 saves are also tied for the program’s single-season record. In 54.2 innings of work, Denton has struck out 75 batters and sports a .88 WHIP.
Denton, a Collegiate Baseball Second Team All-American honors, was tabbed as the Stillwater Regional Most Outstanding Player after registering three saves in three days.
The Stopper of the Year recipient will be announced via a news conference on Friday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb.
