STILLWATER — College Softball Communicators (CSC) named Oklahoma State University softball players Rachel Becker, Chyenne Factor and Morgyn Wynne to its Academic All-America second team, while Kelly Maxwell and Katelynn Carwile were named to the CSC Academic All-America third team.
The quintet of Cowgirls ties Oklahoma for the most CSC Academic All-America softball selections in NCAA Division I, II or III and elevates OSU’s Academic All-American total to 110.
Including this season, OSU now has 20 Academic All-Americans in the sport of softball. Only football has more with 22.
Becker and Maxwell are now the ninth and 10th Cowgirls to be named both All-American and Academic All-American in the same season, joining Lisa Harvey (1989), Lauren Bay (2003), Vanessa Shippy (2016, 2017 and 2018), Carrie Eberle (2021), Hayley Busby (2021) and Maxwell (2022).
Maxwell is the second Cowgirl softball student-athlete to be named both All-American and Academic All-American in multiple seasons, joining Shippy. The Cowgirls’ lefthanded pitcher is also now just the fourth in program history to be named an Academic All-American on multiple occasions, joining Shippy, Harvey and Chelsea Garcia.
OSU has now had multiple Academic All-Americans every year since 2015-16, a span of eight years.
OSU has 75 Academic All-Americans since 2004-0, an average of nearly four per year over the 19-year span.
