OMAHA, Neb. — The Oral Roberts baseball team saw its historic 2023 season and Cinderella run in the postseason come to a close at the College World Series as they fell to Texas Christian University by a score of 6-1 on June 20 at Charles Schwab Field.
The Golden Eagles concluded the 2023 campaign with a 52-14 record and advanced to the College World Series for the second time in program history. The 52 wins are a program record (D1-era).
TCU (44-23 after the win) jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a basesloaded walk in the second and a balk in the fourth.
In the fifth, the Horned Frogs broke the game open with a fourrun frame as their lead grew to 6-0.
ORU pushed across its lone run of the day in the fifth inning as Jonah Cox plated Jacob Godman, who reached on a lead-off single.
The Golden Eagles refused to go quietly as they loaded the bases in the ninth but were unable to scratch across a run.
Brooks Fowler fell to 9-2 on the season after allowing a run over three innings of work. The sophomore also struck out four on the day. In relief, Cade Denton struck out six over four scoreless innings.
