Sallisaw – Funeral services for Joy Inez Whatley, 90, of Sallisaw, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Church of Christ in Sallisaw.
Burial will be at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whatley was born on Oct. 14, 1932, in Dayton, Ark., to William Russell “Bill” Lokey and Edith (Dill) Lokey. She died on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Sallisaw.
She was an inspector at Dixie Cup and a member of Sallisaw Church of Christ.
She married Rex Bell Whatley on Aug. 10, 1957, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Survivors include her husband, Rex of the home; two sons, Rex Blake Whatley of Stilwell and Bret Whatley of Sallisaw; one sister, June Edwards of Hawkins, Texas; three brothers, Bob Lokey of Holly Grove, W.V., Mike Lokey of Glenwood, Ark., and Dan Lokey of Arkoma; and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Don, Rex, Jack and Bill Lokey; and three sisters, Bettye Jo DeFord, Margaret Karl and Bobbie Teresa Lokey.
Pallbearers will be the men of the Church of Christ.
Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the funeral home in Sallisaw.
