When the disciples exclaimed to him that they had seen the Lord immediately his response was mental agreement faith. Thomas spoke in the face of the circumstance, unbelief, “except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Eight days later Jesus came again to the disciples and saith unto Thomas, “reach hither they finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither they hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless but believing.” And Thomas answered Him and calling Him Lord. To the which Jesus declared “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” Jesus expected Thomas to believe and have faith.
Aren’t you glad for Galatians 3:14! It teaches us that the blessing of Abraham is ours through Jesus the Christ, that we have received the promise of the spirit through faith! Abraham believed according to that which was spoken, and our faith is like the faith of Abraham, because we are the seed of Abraham. Galatians 3:7 explains this to us. “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. Our faith is based on what God says!
Often our lives seem to resemble the shipwreck experienced by Paul. In the midst of the storms of life that come our way. And circumstances can crash on us much like the waves of the sea in that storm and attempt to take us down. But in the midst of the storms of life we can say “wherefore sir’s, I believe God!”
