Repent – The Kingdom of Heaven – At Hand
By Shirley R. Watts,

“In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight’” (Matthew 3:13). Repentance

What a message for the world today and especially our Nation! This message is about “repentance” of sins and living the change. “Repentance” is to change your mind about Jesus Christ, placing your faith in His forgiveness of your sins, living and “bearing fruits worthy of repentance.” It’s about Jesus Christ who came and died on the cross for all sin and sinners who will believe in Him. Have you repented of your sin of unbelief? If not you need to seriously consider Jesus today! The clock is ticking and seems like all is leading to Eternity! Where will you spend Eternity… Heaven or Hell!

The Light

“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world” (John 1:6-9).

John the Baptist called of God, sent into this world to prepare the Jews for the Messiah. This was a difficult task. Some of the Jews believed, but the Pharisees and Sadducees rejected the message of repentance and also the messenger. The Pharisees were “religious” and felt their traditions were good enough to please God. The Sadducees were wealthy and controlled the Temple business.

We have a lot of descendants of the Pharisees and Sadducees today, believing in their “works or finances” to give them eternal life. They feel no need to repent and trust Christ. John called them a “Brood of Vipers.”

Judgment

John included the future Judgment in his preaching.

“His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

You must repent of your sin if you want forgiveness and eternal life! There will be a great “lake of fire”, unquenchable fire, and all who reject Christ will remain in it for all eternity. Works or finances will not do you any good on that day!

“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15).

Rejecting

Millions are traveling toward the “lake of fire” today. They are being blinded by Satan. He has such control over a mind that rejects Christ.

If you are rejecting Christ and His salvation, you must not continue down the wide road that leads you to destruction. There is the narrow road you must get on and follow Christ.

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt. 7:1315).

“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:10-14).

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6-7).

Christians

John was faithful to the call and he eventually gave his life that the Jews may know their Messiah and believe. We too must be faithful as we go daily introducing Jesus to the lost. Are you sharing the Light as you walk in this dark world? If not…repent and share today!
