TULSA — The University of Tulsa golfers Lovisa Gunnar and Lilly Thomas were named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team for 2022-23, it was announced Thursday.
Gunnar, a sophomore from Linkoping, Sweden, has maintained a 3.829 gradepoint average in sociology. She has been named to the President’s List one semester and twice selected to the Dean’s Honor Roll.
On the golf course, Gunnar finished among the top-20 in seven tournaments this season, while placing in the top-15 twice. Her best performance was a second-place finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational.
Senior Lilly Thomas has a 3.634 GPA in accounting and has been an honor roll recipient for six semesters.
Thomas had a 72.7 stroke average in 35 rounds of golf this year, while posting a teambest 71.9 average in 23 spring rounds. She was Tulsa‘s top finisher in five tournaments and totaled seven events placing among the top-12 overall this season. Thomas had her first career victory at The Bruzzy Tournament in the spring campaign.
To be selected to the All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and have played in 50 percent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
The duo was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team in May.
