Sallisaw – Funeral services for John “Punchy” Cheater Jr., 51, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at the Agent & Mallory- Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial was at Flute Springs Cemetery in Marble City under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Mr. Cheater was born on June 8, 1972, in Sacaton, Ariz., to John Cheater Sr. and Linda (Morris) Cheater. He died on Sunday, July 30, 2023, in Sallisaw.

He worked as a general laborer.

Survivors include his fiancé, Cecelia of the home; one daughter, Alyssa B. Cheater of Rocky Mountain; three sons, Caleb J. Cheater of Sallisaw and Lordell R. Cheater and Jakob C. Cheater, both of Flute Springs; his mother; two sisters, Melanie K. Cheater of Arizona and Krystal R. Blackberry of Fort Smith, Ark.; two brothers, Joe B. Cheater of Kansas and Jeremy L. Cheater of Fort Smith; one grandchild; and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father. Pallbearers were David Haddox, Michael Haddox, Billy Ward, Brandon Ward and Joseph Crowley.
