Ronald Franklin “Ron” Harwell, 82, was born on July 28, 1940, in Oklahoma City to Ovid “O.T.” and Lela Harwell. He died on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at his home.
Mr. Harwell graduated from McAlester High School, attended Okmulgee Technical School and was an Army Reservist for eight years. He was employed by McDonald Brothers Chevrolet in Sallisaw, Capco in Van Buren and retired from Gould/GNB/ Exide Battery in Fort Smith, Ark.
He was married to JoAnn McEver on Dec. 22, 1962, in Sallisaw.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, JoAnn; daughter, Michelle Lucy and husband Jeff of Tecumseh; three granddaughters; his great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Debbie Bible; sister-in-law, Barbara Casey; and great-grandson, Cooper Self.
There was a “gathering” of family and friends at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Hanson Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services of Fort Smith.
