A Vian woman has been charged with a misdemeanor count of false reporting of crime and felony domestic assault, battery, or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after reporting to police she was allegedly assaulted, and later found to be the aggressor.
Suzanne Hediger, 53, was formally charged on August 2 in Sequoyah County District Court and received an $8,000 bond. She is set to appear for an Aug. 23 arraignment before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters as of press time, Monday.
According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s deputies were dispatched to Dwight Mission cemetery on July 30 regarding an alleged fight between Hediger and her former boyfriend.
Hediger alleged she went to her former residence to collect her belongings and then showed the deputies a video of her former boyfriend, who appeared irate.
Hediger alleged her former boyfriend had knocked her down twice and assaulted her while she was at the residence.
The deputies said they told Hediger to go to the Sheriff ’s Office to fill out a statement while they tried to locate her former boyfriend, according to the affidavit.
Hediger’s former boyfriend then showed them a video he had of her, where she can be seen driving her vehicle and attempting to run over him while the two are arguing. Hediger is then seen getting out of the vehicle and slapping and hitting her former boyfriend multiple times.
The deputies noted that Hediger didn’t appear to be afraid or make any attempt to get away from her former boyfriend, and he can repeatedly be heard asking her to leave the property.
He was asked to fill out a statement while the deputies went to the Sheriff ’s Office to speak with Hediger.
Hediger was placed under arrest at that time for the charges and booked into the Sequoyah County Detention Center.
