Isaac and Courtney Barnoskie were chosen as recipients of Vian’s Favorite Son and Daughter awards for 2023.
Isaac Barnoskie is the son of Gary and Joan Barnoskie. He attended Vian Public Schools from Kindergarten through high school. Courtney Barnoskie is a 2001 graduate of Vian High School. The two were high school sweethearts and got married in 2004 while they were both attending the University of Oklahoma together.
Courtney obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business from OU and her Master’s from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, while Isaac obtained his Master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Isaac and Courtney’s daughter, Brynn, was born at 1 lb. and 4 ounces while they were living in Texas. The Barnoskie family returned to Vian in 2010. Brynn is now 13-years-old and attends Vian Middle School.
Isaac served in Economic Development as Education and Career counselor before moving into public health education. He serves as the Public Health Educator for Cherokee Nation Health Services at Redbird Smith Health Center in Sallisaw.
He has brought fitness events to Vian such as the Lake Vian Trail Run, Lake Vian Hilltop Run, and the Lake Vian Bike Ride. He can usually be found at Lake Vian Trail System, The Field House gym in Vian, or on social media.
Courtney is Market President of Armstrong Bank, managing both the Vian and Muldrow offices. She is currently president of the Vian Lions Club, and has also volunteered with the Vian PTO and in the Crossing Kids Ministry.
Courtney and Isaac served as foster parents with DHS for six years and were an ambassador family for the Sequoyah County March of Dimes.
