The Gore Lady Pirates ended last week with a 10-2 road loss to the Vian Lady Wolverines on Thursday afternoon at Vian’s Armstrong Park.
The Lady Wolverines (20-6) broke a 1-all tie with a seven-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning to take a 9-1 lead after four innings.
In defeat, Cadi Shoemake doubled with an RBI, Emily Daily singled and scored Gore’s lone run and Sophie O’Connor, Natalie Casteel and Kynley Webb all singled for the Lady Pirates (9-15). Cheyenne Davidson took the loss, despite fanning three batters in 4.2 innings.
The Lady Pirates, barring a rainout, played in its Class A District Tournament on Tuesday afternoon, facing the Dewar Lady Dragons in a doubleheader. If both teams split the twinbill, there will be a winnertake-all game this afternoon for the district title and earn a spot in next week’s Class A Regional Tournament.
However, if one team swept the other on Tuesday, that winner advanced to the regional tournament.
