The Gore Pirates remained undefeated and perfect in District A-8 play as they got a home win over the Pocola Indians by a score of 37-22 on Friday night at K.G. Horn Stadium.
The Pirates (6-0 overall, 3-0 in district play) now get ready for the District A-8 showdown against the Central Tigers at 7 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium. Central got a 50-20 road district victory over Porter Consolidated on Friday night in Porter.
Gore got two firstquarter touchdown passes from Tate Brooksher to Hunter McGee, an 11-yard pass play with 1:04 left in the opening period and the other one coming just 60 seconds later on a 38yard pass play. Journey Shells ran in the twopoint conversion after the first TD scoring play.
The same twosome of Brooksher and Mc-Gee struck twice more in the second period, this time on a 36-yard pass play with 3:44 left in the first half and the other coming on a 23yard pass play with 1:14 remaining in the first half. Bladin McCartney scored the two-point conversion after the first second-quarter score, while Brooksher scored the two-point conversion after the second TD.
Brooksher, who accounted for all five Gore touchdowns in some fashion, capped the game with a 7-yard touchdown run with 5:55 left in the third quarter. Luis Schyktanz kicked the extra point.
For the game, Brooksher threw for 141 yards and four TD passes to McGee, who caught five passes for 140 yards and four touchdowns. Mc-Cartney rushed for 130 yards and a TD.
Defensively, Shells led the way with seven tackles, one solo, and a fumble recovery, while Ayden Cox had six tackles, five solo, and a pass break-up.
