WELEETKA — The 2023 football season came to a close for the Webbers Falls Warriors as they suffered a 64-18 Class B second-round playoff game loss to the host Weleetka Outlaws on Friday night.
The Warriors end the season at 9-3.
Maddux Shelby’s first touchdown run of the game in the first quarter put the Warriors ahead 6-0 with 9:48 left in the period.
After two straight TDs by the Outlaws (11-1), Shelby scored his second TD of the quarter to cut the Webbers Falls deficit to 14-12 after a quarter.
However, the Outlaws took a stronghold on the contest as they scored twice and converted both two-point conversions to take a 3012 halftime lead.
After the Outlaws upped their advantage to 36-12 with 9:06 left in the third quarter, Shelby recorded a hat trick as he scored his third touchdown of the game to cut the Warriors’ deficit to 30-18 with 7:14 left in period. That would be as close as the Warriors got.
Weleetka scored four more TDs to put the game into mercy-rule status with 31 seconds left in the quarter.
