For job seekers
Sequoyah County Commissioners approved a “Consortium” agreement between local elected officials and the Green Country Workforce Development Board at their regular meeting, Monday.
According to District 1 Commissioner Ray Watts, who serves on the board, the agreement will help provide jobs for people in Oklahoma as well as the county.
The program board was created by Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt to “create relationships that benefit employers and job seekers by placing talent today while preparing individuals for the jobs of tomorrow.”
The “private-industry” led board serves Adair, Cherokee, Creek, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee, Sequoyah, Tulsa and Wagoner Counties. Oklahoma has six Local Workforce Development Boards that make up the state’s public workforce system.
The commissioners approved the agreement after the item was also approved by the Sequoyah County District Attorney’s Office.
Commissioners also opened bids for two or more 2018 or newer motor graders for District 1. None were selected at that time.
The following items were also approved:
• The Sequoyah County Employee Recognition Luncheon;
• Land owner agreement for shale by and between Ken Edwards and Sequoyah County District 1;
• Agreements to work on private property by and between Daniel Stevens and between Doug Smith and District 1; and
• Resolution of the 2023 REAP Contract Acceptance for S. 4670 Road in District 3 and a resolution for the annual Safety Awards.
Under new business, the commissioners approved a Community Sentencing transfer of funds from maintenance and operations (M&O) to Community Sentencing Personal Service.
They also approved to transfer funds from District # (T2 M&O) to District 3 (T8 Capital Outlay) and from District 1 (CBRIF-105) to District 1 (T8 Capital Outlay).
Beau Burlison, District 2 Commissioner, said work is completely done for the Indian Road project and commissioners approved one of the final documents (District 2 Indian Road Site D Final Quantity Change Order).
All other reports were also approved.
