Sallisaw – Graveside services for Jimmy “AJ” Curry, 88 of Sallisaw, were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Drakestand Cemetery in Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Curry was born on Oct. 2, 1935, in Vian, to Ida P. (Long) Curry and John Raymond Curry. He died on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, in Fort Smith, Ark.
He was married to Barbara Jean McClendon on Feb. 8, 1974, in Stilwell. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2013.
He was a professional truck driver for 50 years. He loved to play golf, take care of his lawn and play cards.
Survivors are three daughters, Lisa McInerney and Mike, Sherry Curry and Tony Renfro and Patty McHenry and Billy, all of Sallisaw; one son, Donny Curry and Clarissa of Sallisaw; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel M. McClure and Connie of Sallisaw and Florence A. Thomas and Herbert of Sallisaw; one brother, Roy Curry and Hope of Yukon; and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Henning; son, Jimbo Curry; his parents; two sisters, Maggie Lockhart and Eva J. Lowe; and three brothers, Raymond Curry, Thomas Curry and Pee-Wee Curry.
Pallbearers were Billy McHenry, Ty McHenry, Mike McInerney, Tony Renfro, Jamie Robertson, Steffan Christie and Colter Curry.
