The Roland Rangers and the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were named the top seeds in the 2024 Sequoyah County Tournament during Wednesday morning’s seeding meeting at Sallisaw High School’s Paul Post Fieldhouse.
Sallisaw High School is the host school for this season’s SCT, with the two sites of games taking place at Paul Post Fieldhouse and Gans High School’s Bryant “Big Country” Reeves Fieldhouse.
Normally the tournament is the complete first full week of January, but since Monday of that week is New Year’s Day, the tournament will not begin until Tuesday, Jan. 2 with four games at each site to make up for no games being slated on Monday, Jan. 1.
The championship games will be at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys) Saturday, Jan. 6 at Paul Post Fieldhouse.
As for the other boys’ seeds, Muldrow was seeded second, followed by Vian in third, Sallisaw fourth, Stigler fifth, Central sixth, Gore seventh and Gans eighth.
On the girls’ side, Roland was voted by the coaches as the No. 2 seed, with Stigler third, Central fourth, Sallisaw fifth, Vian sixth, Gans seventh and Gore eighth.
The 2025 SCT sites of games also were announced during Wednesday’s seeding meeting, which will be Roland’s Ranger Dome and Gore Event Center.
