Vian Lady Wolverines wrestlers get season underway last weekend at Jay Tournament

JAY — Four Vian Lady Wolverines wrestlers competed at last weekend’s two-day Jay Tournament to begin their season.

Carmen Rautenburg, Carissa Prock, Aubrey Gant and Avery Richey competed for the Lady Wolverines, but none placed. However, coach Garett Willis was proud of their efforts.

“We had very good performances, but no placers,” Willis said. “It was an extremely tough tournament.”

The Lady Wolverines will be idle until next Tuesday when they entertain the Poteau junior varsity at B.J. Traw Gymnasium, which will be the season-opener for Wolverines.
