The Webbers Falls Board of Trustees convened for its monthly meeting on Nov. 14, covering a range of agenda items and making key decisions that will impact the community.
The meeting kicked off at 6:21 p.m. with a roll call, confirming the presence of all trustees: Jewell Hall, Danny Haley, John Morgan, Robert Ross Jr., and Johnny Pollard.
The board discussed and approved several consent items, including bills and reoccurring bills for November 2023, meeting minutes from Oct. 10 and 24, and the 2024 regular town meeting schedule. Notably, a quote from Dalmatian Fire Equipment for $16,331.94 and a Comp Source Mutual invoice for $6,255.33 were also approved.
Meghan Johnson of the Webbers Falls Chamber of Commerce presented a proposal to the board, seeking approval to adopt Highway 100 from the Arkansas River bridge to Love’s Truck Stop. The motion, seconded by Hall and Haley, was approved unanimously. The Chamber will be responsible for maintaining the adopted section, with ODOT providing signage.
Emily Ogg expressed concerns about dogs entering Vaught Cemetery and items going missing from graves. Ogg proposed the installation of a chain-link fence to address these issues. The motion to table the matter until the next meeting, allowing for further discussion and cost evaluation, was unanimously approved.
Additionally, yearend bonuses of $750 net pay for employees and a clothing allowance of $300 for town employees were approved.
The board approved putting the roof and back wall project on Freedom Hall up for bid and approved payments for work completed on the Sewer Lagoon Project. The potential demolition of Webbers Falls Properties (Garden Walk Apartments) located at 100 W. Oak Street was discussed, with a motion to continue with the bid process for 60 days.
No action was taken regarding the Town of Webbers Falls’ association with Chamber of Commerce events. The potential demolition of Garden Walk Apartments was extended for 60 days, taking into account the potential buyer’s request for time to address the property.
