Three of the four local teams in the field of the inaugural Gore Tournament won their respective trophy games Saturday morning and afternoon at Gore Event Center.

The Vian Wolverines captured the consolation championship by handling the Salina Wildcats 60-45 on Saturday afternoon after being stunned in the opening round 45-42 in overtime by Quinton but bouncing back in Friday’s consolation semifinals with a 44-25 victory over Chouteau-Mazie.

The Lady Wolverines lost their Saturday afternoon consolation finals, losing 67-37 to Hulbert after opening the tournament with a 54-28 loss Thursday to Chouteauteau Mazie the beating the host Gore Lady Pirates 56-36 in Friday afternoon’s consolation semifinals.

The Lady Pirates and Pirates each finished seventh. The Lady Pirates, who fell 58-17 in their tournament opener Thursday night to Stigler, handled Braggs 58-21 in Saturday morning’s seventh-place game for their first win of the season.

The Prates, who opened with a 41-32 loss to Hulbert in Thursday’s opener and fell 61-50 to Salina in Friday afternoon’s consolation semifinals, ended the tournament on a high note by defeating Chouteau-Mazie 55-37 in Saturday’s seventh-place game.
