The Webbers Falls Board of Trustees convened on Dec. 12 for their monthly meeting to address various issues and projects affecting the community.
The meeting was called to order promptly at 6:03 p.m., and the roll call confirmed the presence of trustees, Jewell Horn, Danny Haley, Robert Ross, and Johnny Pollard. Notably absent was John Morgan.
The board began by discussing and approving consent items, including bills and reoccurring bills for December 2023 and the regular meeting minutes from Nov. 14.
Police Chief Wayne Cartwright presented the police department’s monthly report, and Fire Chief Dalton Armstrong mentioned a busy month with significant calls. City Maintenance Employees reported completion of Christmas decorations with no major ongoing projects.
One significant point of discussion and action was the approval of Contractor’s Pay Application No. 2 for the Wastewater Lagoon Project (18538 CDBGDR 19). The amount of $398,430, as recommended by project engineer Robert Vaughn of Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC, was unanimously approved.
The board also approved a payment of $14,630 to Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC for engineering services associated with the Wastewater Lagoon Project.
The Fire Department’s 2023-24 VFIS Insurance Renewal Policy, with a payment of $12,685 to VFIS, was also approved during the meeting.
An additional expenditure approved was the payment of $9,003.98 to ReelTech Marine for Invoice 1082, associated with the Fire Department Rescue Boat.
In personnel matters, the trustees voted unanimously to approve the hiring of Jimmie Reed as a reserve officer, with the meeting concluding at 6:15 p.m.
