Sequoyah County Cooperative Extension Service Educator Janis Risley and Tammy Perry, Health Disparities Specialist, will be offering the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease Program beginning on Jan. 15, 2024 at the New Vian community building, 1110 N. Thornton, Vian.
The Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease Program is a 6-week physical activity and self-management education program from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
While walking is the central activity, Walk With Ease is a multicomponent program that also includes health education, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies.
The program has a guidebook and a walking schedule to get you safely moving toward better health.
Studies have shown the Walk With Ease program: Reduces the pain and discomfort of arthritis; Increases balance, strength and walking pace; Builds confidence in your ability to be physically active; and Improves overall health.
