Graveside services for Johnny Lee Dixon, 77, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Akins Cemetery, under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc., Sallisaw.

Mr. Dixon was born on Sept. 3, 1946, in Muskogee, to Alvin and Dorothy Dixon. He died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, in Sallisaw.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and his service ended in 1968 with an honorable discharge. He retired from the Atascadero State Hospital in California as a licensed psychiatric technician and a State Peace Officer.

He served on the board of directors for the Nicut Fire Department from 1997-99, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4518 of Sallisaw. He loved singing karaoke, playing guitar, fishing, caring for his cattle, and shooting pool with friends.

He was married to Lorena “Pat” Dixon, in 1982, in Stilwell.

Survived are his wife, Lorena “Pat” Dixon; daughter, Sherri Kelly; son, Paul and Jules Harper; four grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and several other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Clifton; and sister-in-law, Pat Clifton.
