Several Vian Wrestling Club members did well in three different New Year’s Day Weekend tournaments on Dec. 30.
At the Skiatook Smackdown Tournament, 88-pound wrestler Joely Hunt won both the girls age 10-and-younger and age 12-and-younger titles.
At the United States Junior Olympic Championships at Oklahoma City’s Jim Norick State Fair Arena, Cara Prock was runner-up at 100 pounds in the girls age 12-and-younger division.
Most of the other members participated at the Rumble on the River, which took place at Gore Event Center.
Thomas Sandlin and Klasen Couch were first, Keaton Gregory second and Luke Sandlin fourth in the age 6-and-younger division as Sandlin pinned Gregory in his finals match.
All other members at Gore’s event were in round-robin events.
Reid Locust was 2-0 in the open age 8-andyounger division, Kody Perry was 2-0 in the novice age 10-and-younger and Caden Ryals was 2-0 and Chandler Isley competed in three matches in the open age 12-and-younger division. Ryals did compete in three matches in the open age 12-and-younger division.
Daxton Stewart went 3-0, Zayn Vinson went 2-1 and Cale Winans and Rocky Ford each went 1-1 in the open age 10-and-younger division with one of Stewart’s wins being a 20-8 major decision over Vinson for his lone loss. Stewart also went 3-0 in the open age 12-andyounger division, with one of those wins being a 10-3 win over fellow member Kolton Drew who competed in three matches on the day.
Also in the open 12-and-younger division, Kalvin Andrade went 2-0 and Cain Winans went 1-2.
Asher Stewart went 2-1, Jett Constant went 1-2, Kayden Perceful went 1-3 and Nolan Thomas competed in three matches in the age 6-and-younger division. Constant’s win was an 8-7 win over Thomas.
Madalynn Turman went 2-1 in the novice age 8-and-younger division, while Clayton Thomas went 1-1 in the novice age 15-andyounger division.
Harper Lindsay competed in bracket-style action but did not place.
