Funeral services for John David Ross Sr., 85, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Hanson Baptist Church in Sallisaw.
Burial followed at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc, Sallisaw.
Mr. Ross was born on Aug. 23, 1938, in Hodgens, to Bill and Eunice Ross. He died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024.
He was a 1956 graduate of Central High School and served in the United States Navy until 1962. He worked as a journeyman lineman for Cookson Hills Electric, retiring as a foreman in June 1963. He became a church deacon in 1972 and taught Sunday school for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on his farm.
He was married to Lahoma Fay Lattimore on Aug. 27, 1962. She precedes him in death.
Survivors are daughters, Shannon Tucker and husband Bryan and Barbara Cawhorn and husband Jeff; son, John David Ross II; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, William “Henry” Ross; sister, Sarah Ross; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Durant–Ross.
Pallbearers were Bryan Tucker, Jeff Cawhorn, Marty Ross, Roger Haggard II, Yusuf Holloway, Ty Tucker, and Chase Ross.
Honorary pallbearers were Corky Hunt, Kyle Caughman, Dan Callahan, Matt Davis and Jimmy D. Rogers.
