Celebration of Life Service for Larry Vernon “Tiny” Fears, 75, of Gore, was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Gore, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Fears was born on Oct. 10, 1948, in Fort Smith, Ark., to O.T. Jr. and Betty Fears. He died on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, in Muskogee.
He was a graduate of Sallisaw High School and continued his education at NSU in Tahlequah, graduating with a degree in Wildlife Biology. He also worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 2005. He was then employed to do contract work for the Corps to help people affected by natural disasters. He was known as a fisherman extraordinaire and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors are two children, son Jason (Lori) Morris and daughter, Dena (Brian) Cole; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, O.T. (Marie) Fears III, Gary Fears, Nancy (David) Griggs, Amiee (Mike) Jones, Ann Wallace; brothers-in-law, Johnnie Ford and Robert Wallace; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,; one sister, Merry Ford; and one brother, John Fears.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or First Baptist Church, Gore.
