CHECOTAH — The Vian Wrestling Club had one of its best days of action as the organization saw 18 members qualify for last weekend’s Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association (OKWA) State Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma City’s Jim Norick State Fair Arena.
At the OKWA Southeast Regional Tournament on Feb. 10, four members won regional titles — Lex Branham (131 pounds, age 10-and-younger division), Madalynn Turman (75, girls age 8-and-younger), Luke Sandlin (49, age 6-and-younger) and Joely Hunt (88, girls age 10-and-younger).
Rocky Ford (100 pounds, age 10-and-younger division), Dax Stewart (67, age 10-and-younger), Cara Prock (98, girls age 12-and-younger), Axl Branham (130, age 12-andyounger), Harlea Lucas (58, girls age 8-and-younger) and Bronc Sumpter (85, age 10-and-younger) all were regional runners-up.
Thomas Sandlin (52 pounds, age 6-and-younger division), Chuck Lucas (92, age 15-and-younger) and Jestin Rosson (67, age 10-and-younger) were third, while Carissa Prock (126, girls age 15-and-younger) and Keaton Gregory (49, age 6-and-younger) were fifth.
Knox Branham (52 pounds, age 6-and-younger division), Zayn Vinson (64, age 10-and-younger) and Caden Ryals (100, age 12-and-younger) were sixth.
