While conducting narcotic saturation patrols
Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins reported on Saturday that officers with the Vian Police Department, along with Sequoyah County Sheriff deputies worked together conducting narcotic saturation patrols.
Harkins said after a traffic stop was made for a vehicle defect and expired tags, an occupant inside the vehicle was found to be in possession of drugs and under the influ- ence.
Christina K. Rife was booked into the Sequoyah County Detention Center later that afternoon on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance, public intoxication, and possession of marijuana (without a medical marijuana card).
According to Harkins, Rife was also found to be under the influence of those substances at the time of her arrest.
“Our relentless pursuit of this kind of activity will continue to get more intense as we get closer to the spring and summer breaks, in an effort to protect our children as they play outside and walk our city streets without fear of these types of people driving and riding down our roads,” Harkins said. “Thank you to Sequoyah County deputies for hanging around today and helping make a difference in our community.”
