Funeral services for Cherie Sue Poindexter, 72, of Fort Cobb were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Marble City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1951, in Sallisaw, to Mary (Crawford) Johnson and Ben Watie Poindexter. She died on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, in Fort Cobb.
She was a convenience store business owner and a Crow Roost volunteer firefighter. She worked in accounting at Tinker Air Force Base and liked music, dancing, crocheting, gardening and reading her Bible.
Survivors are two daughters, Shelley Cantrell and Tony of Huntsville, Ala., and Melissa Phillips and Shawn of Warr Acres; six grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Hall of Shawnee and Kara Trammell of Helena; one brother, Ben Poindexter of Clinton; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jay Poindexter; and one sister, Vanda Fowler.
Pallbearers were Devon Cose, Scot Trammell, Keneth Trammell, Remy Trammell, Bobby Ray Poindexter and Edward Poindexter.
