The Vian Lady Wolverines began their 2024 slow-pitch softball season in fine fashion with an 11-1 win over county rival Gore on March 12 in Gore.
The Lady Wolverines (1-0) scored twice in the first inning and once in the third inning for a 3-0 lead. After the Lady Pirates scored once in the fourth inning on Paige Curran’s RBI double to cut the deficit to 3-1 after four innings, Vian put the game into run-rule status with a five-run fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning.
For the game, Eastern Oklahoma State College signee Maisie Wells was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs batted in and three runs scored, Akeelah Truett was 2-for-3 with two homers and five RBIs, LaKaila Drew was 2-for-4 with a doubled two RBIs, Kala Gibbins doubled and scored twice and Rayleigh Terrill doubled and scored once for Vian.
The Lady Wolverines had their road three-way with Roland at Warner rained out Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Wolverines will be idle over Spring Break Week, then return to action at 5:30 p.m. Monday at home against Muldrow.
