Gore Pirates beat Quinton, but lose twice in Dewar Invitational

The Gore Pirates defeated Quinton 7-4 on April 2 at home, but ended the week with a twoand-out at the Dewar Invitational Joe Fowler Gumbo Classic as they lost 8-3 to Weleetka and 12-6 to Asher.

In the win over Quinton, the Pirates (8-10) won for the second straight game and picked up their third victory in the last four games.

Gore rallied from a 4-3 deficit with a threerun fifth inning and a single run in the sixth inning to get the comefrom- behind victory. For the game, Keeton Rowe was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Waylon Gilley was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, James Brasuel was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tate Brooksher doubled and scored twice for the Pirates.

Brasuel (1-2) got his first win of the season, pitching the final 2.2 innings with seven strikeouts. Dayton Smith started the game and went the first 4.1 innings with six Ks.

In the loss to Weleetka, the Outlaws broke a 3-all tie with a tworun fourth inning and a three-run fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead.

In defeat, Brasuel singled and scored once, Ayden Cox singled with an RBI and a run scored and Kyler McGee singled for Gore.

Brasuel took the loss, despite fanning five batters in 4.1 innings.

In the loss to Asher, the Indians rallied from a 5-1 deficit with an 11run third inning to take a 12-5 lead.

In defeat, Keiden Denton was 2-for-2 with a grand-slam home run to give Gore a 5-1 lead in the third inning and four RBIs, while Tate Brooksher doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore.

Brooksher (3-3) took the loss in relief, going just two-thirds of an inning and giving up 11 runs, 10 of which were earned. Smith got the start and pitched the first inning, then Cruz Ward pitched the second inning with a strikeout. Hunter Hunter McGee went the final 1.1 innings with four Ks.

After playing a road game at next-door neighbor Webbers Falls on Tuesday, the Pirates will be the host team for the 2024 Riverside Conference Tournament, which will run Thursday through Saturday. Then they will start next week with a road game at 6 p.m. Monday at Okay before playing in their Class A District Tournament at the end of next week.
