Former Vian softball player, ATU Golden Suns take weekend series from ECU

ADA — Former Vian Lady Wolverine softball player Kacie Gibbins and her Arkansas Tech University Golden Suns took a weekend road series from East Central University.

The Golden Suns took both games Saturday by scores of 6-3 and 7-5 after losing Friday’s opener 6-5 as ECU took it with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Gibbins did not play in Friday’s game or Game 1 on Saturday, but she had two at-bats in Game 2 on Saturday.

After playing their third and final game of the season against Ha r d i n g University on Tuesday, the Golden Suns (21-16) will entertain Southeastern Oklahoma State University for a 3 p.m. Friday doubleheader and a noon Saturday game at Chartwell’s Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville, Ark.
