An 18-year-old Vian man is facing a felony charge of first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 14 following an incident that allegedly occurred in December 2023.
Cadge Daniel was charged on April 9 in Sequoyah County District Court and a warrant was issued for his arrest the same day. He received a $15,000 bond and is now scheduled for a May 1 felony disposition docket before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters.
Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s Investigator Cindy Smith said she received a report from Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins in reference to sexual allegations between a juvenile female and Daniel. The alleged victim told authorities that after going to Daniel’s residence, she was reportedly held down on a bed by Daniel and allegedly sexually assaulted against her will.
According to the affidavit filed in the case, the alleged victim said Daniel finally stopped when someone came inside the residence. Smith reported the case was then forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review.
If found guilty of the charge, District Attorney Jack Thorp said it is punishable by not less than five years.
