A Friday night collision on I-40, about two miles west of Vian has claimed the life of a Sallisaw man, according to accident report issued by Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Trooper Jordan Galvan #311 of the Sequoyah County Detachment of Troop C reported Jonathan Walters, 41, was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on I-40 when he lost control on a curve. Galvan said Walters then departed the roadway to the left and struck a cable barrier.
Walters was transported by Pafford EMS to NHS Hospital in Sallisaw with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injuries. He was later pronounced deceased by a physician at the hospital.
Galvan said Walters was wearing a helmet and the cause of the collision remains under investigation, as of press time.
Galvan was assisted by OHP Lt. Sheldon Dobbs, Trooper Devin Harriman, Trooper Joshua Aden, Trooper Colton Croft and Trooper Christopher Rochell, Sequoyah County Sheriff ’s Dept., Vian Fire Dept. and First Flight.
