Memorial service for Larry W. Cooper, 76, was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the U. S. Navy Honor Team.
Mr. Cooper was born on Sept. 9, 1947, in Wagoner, to Jack D. Cooper and Ruby Frances (Shelton) Smith. He died on May 1, 2024, in Gore.
He graduated from Vian High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967, serving proudly until his honorable discharge in 1971. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He worked in commercial building construction as a concrete finisher. His enjoyed hunting, fishing and metal detecting.
Survivors are son, Brandon Cooper; daughter, Bridgette Cooper; two granddaughters; siblings, Judy, Kathy and husband Joe Hitchcock, Karen and husband Greg Turner, Clay Keho, Debbie and husband Ed Brockman, and Sheila Burger; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and his father’s wife, Ann Cooper; mother; two brothers, Terry Cooper and Jackie Cooper; and a nephew, Chris Cooper.
