Candidates seeking election in the upcoming June 18 primary election will have a chance to present their case to voters during a public forum on June 3.
Your TIMES and KXMX Mix 105.1 are sponsoring the forum so that candidates can let voters know where they stand on important issues.
The forum will be held at the People Inc. Conference Center, 204 S. J.T. Stites Blvd., from 6:30 to about 8 p.m.
Candidates participating in the event are:
• Court clerk: Gina Cox (Incumbent) and Melanie Edgmon
• County clerk: Julie Haywood (Incumbent) and Rosa Scott Looper
• State Representative District 2: Jim Olsen (Incumbent) and E.O. “Jr.” Smith
The forum, which is open to the public, will be moderated by Marley Abell. Candidate names will be drawn from a hat to determine order for opening statements, questions and closing remarks.
No electronic devices will be allowed, including, but not limited to, mobile phones, iPads/ tablets, teleprompter apps, etc.
Each candidate will have up to three minutes each for opening and closing statements. Candidates will have two minutes in which to answer a direct question from the moderator, and other candidates will then have two minutes to respond.
The number of questions during the forum will depend on the time spent on each question.
