Funeral services for John Ray Harvell, 59, of Pocola, were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Muldrow Church of the Nazarene in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Harvell was born on Aug. 15, 1964, in Sallisaw, to Gerry Louise Krueger and Buddy Ray Harvell. He died on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Pocola.
He was a 1982 graduate of Gans High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a combat engineer. He was then employed at Riverside Furniture and Whirlpool in Fort Smith before starting a career in the auto body collision industry. He also served as a Sunday School teacher at the Southside Nazarene Church in Muldrow.
He married his wife Sharleen in 1993. Survivors are wife, Sharleen of the home; two sons, Johnathan K. Harvell and wife Veila of Aurora, Colo., and Timothy R. Harvell and wife KateLynn of Owasso; one grandson; his mother, of Muldrow; three sisters, Susan Harvell-Brown of Charleston, Ark., Tonya Harvell of Sallisaw and Carol Hand and husband Jimmy of Lamar, Ark.; brother, Lynn Harvell and wife Lynnette of Muldrow; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Tom Allen Harvell and Cricket Marie Harvell; maternal grandparents, Dan Johnson and Tenni Belle Eastland; one child; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Johnathan Harvell, Timothy Harvell, Lynn Harvell, Shawn Hamby, Ralph Higinbotham and Alex Cardenas.
