Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) is lowering the fuel charge to Oklahoma customers, who will see a reduction in their electric bills as a result. The change went into effect on May 1 and customers will see the change reflected in their June bills.
The average residential customer bill will be $25 lower this summer compared to last summer because of the lower fuel charge and depending on energy usage. Before this adjustment, about 30% of customers’ electric bill was for fuel. With this change, the fuel charge will now be about 20% of the customers’ electric bill.
The fuel charge in every customer’s bill can change up to two times per year, depending on the actual cost of fuel to produce electricity. OG&E does not profit from fuel and have implemented cost-saving strategies for fuel purchases to minimize the impact on customer bills. OG&E sources and purchases fuel at the lowest cost possible rate as forecasted.
