Funeral services for Kenneth Callahan, 85, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at First Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Callahan was born on Aug. 15, 1938, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Eutha Marie (Watts) Callahan and Brice Kenneth Callahan. He died on Friday, May 31, 2024, in Vian.
He was married to Mildred Florene McClure on Nov. 16, 1957, in Sallisaw.
He was a building inspector for the City of Sallisaw and was appointed by two governors to serve on the State of Oklahoma Construction Board. He was a lifelong member of Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw.
Survivors are wife, Mildred Callahan of the home; four sons, Greg Callahan and Jami of Fort Smith, Ark., Kendall Callahan of Carrollton, Texas, Brad Callahan and Stacy of Sallisaw and Chris Callahan and Julie of Plano, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Patsy Rogers.
Pallbearers were Kevin Adair, Trey Woodside, Tim Tran, Brice Callahan, Kyler Ekberg, Eric Callahan, Caden Callahan, Camden Callahan and Ryan Fair.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Hohn, Wayne Land, Wendell Norrid, Rev. Harold McKeehen, Herb Pierce, Frank Weatherford, Dennis Sprouse, Harold Powell, Harold Tomlin and Paul Marshall.
