The Sequoyah County Fairground’s Avis Jackson Show Arena has a new look! Dirt work and concrete was completed in June for the $35,000 project, which was made financially possible by several contributors. Sequoyah County Commissioners Jim Rogers, Beau Burlison and Ray Watts contributed $30,000 to the project, along with E.O. “Jr.” Smith and the Cherokee Nation adding $2,000, and Local Bank of Sallisaw and Todd Martin with Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home each donating $1,500. Members of the Sequoyah County Fair Board said they wish to thank everyone who made the new arena possible. Now that the concrete work is completed, there will be no more arena full of 20-year-old shavings to make you sick.
